IGF-1 IN LEARNING & MEMORY

Currently Under Review

There is an ample amount of research indicating that Insulin-like growth factor-1 plays a role in cognitive decline. IGF-1 surges during the pubertal period and declines throughout adulthood and is drastically reduced in advanced age. In the Ashpole lab, we hope to understand how IGF-1 promotes learning and memory in adulthood and advanced age using transgenic mouse models.
